Introducing Autumn Fjeld!

We are kicking off our #SpotlightU22 series! First up, Autumn!

I met this beautiful and talented soul in the Miss America Organization and boy am I glad that I did! Autumn is also our Miss Wild Rose 2022! Here is what she had to say about the arts.

1. What is your style of art?

I am a multimedia artist and multi-instrumentalist with primary focuses in violin and voice! I have played the violin for 17 years and play regularly for community events, churches, and weddings as a solo violinist. Most recently, I competed at Miss Iowa, placing in the top 10 and winning preliminary talent with my violin.

2. Why do you advocate for arts education?

Through MAO, I have the chance to advocate for arts education with my initiative, “Arts in Action: Promoting Fine Arts Education”. Within my initiative, I challenge communities, schools, and students to identify how the arts are at work in their own lives and to see the key role arts play in our society. Arts are fundamental to who we are and how we function, and keeping those programs alive in our schools is crucial to the upbringing of our youth as they grow into adulthood. Children should be allowed creative freedom and the opportunity to grow and learn to think outside the box, and involvement in arts programs allows them that freedom. Arts allow students to become role models and leaders, and makes it possible to create a brighter and better future.

3. What impact do you hope it will have on people?

I hope our communities, schools, and elected officials with the power to change curriculum recognize the value and importance the arts has in our society and how our students can benefit from exposure to arts education.
